Science on her side. I think?

Cailin and Cassidy are campaigning to share a bedroom, and have offered every manner of argument in favor of a sisterly sleepover on a nightly basis.

I am totally on board (which has less to do with their persuaion and more to do with freeing up one more room!), and actually making decorating plans for a January move, although we are making them earn the treat by showing they can get along before we give them the green light. Being my daughters, the biggest factor is not how they will work out sharing a space, but instead how they will paint the space! Much conversation has revolved around style (shabby chic) and color (pink or blue...?), but Cailin has the definitive answer on what the color should be.

The room must be blue; no other color will work to help them achieve the harmony we requested. According to her, Mrs. Hitt (otherwise known as 4th grade teacher extraordinaire and expert of all things important) told them last year that blue is the most calming color. The fact that Mrs. Hitt said it should be enough, but knowing we want hard, cold facts, (ahem) she backed up this claim with the assertion that, "Mrs. Hitt said there is scientific-al proof that it is the most calming color.".

Well, with scientific-al proof who are we to argue? Blue it is!

Cailin was working so hard on her school project, and I was trying to be supportive. Even so I couldn't help but chuckle at her mangling of the English language as she rehearsed the oral presentation. Marie Curie (she insisted on calling her "Mary") had a daughter, Irene, otherwise known as "Irony". I can't even phonetically spell her name for "Mary's" husband Pierre. Oh my word- she is her father's daughter!!

Despite these mis-pronunciations, she remains the perfect child, as does her sister:-)

Christmas Card Picture 2006... I even had the cards made up and addressed the envelopes. Did they make it to the post office? Oh no! But this is the picture you would have seen if they did make it in the mail :-) Maybe next year?

Yeah, but you should see the other guy, I mean vacuum cleaner!

These are not great shots, and they don't really do justice to the lovely black bruise , but here is the proof that I really should never be left home alone! At least not with an out of control vacuum cleaner. Is this crazy or what!?

Just call me grace!

4th of July Cailin- pigtails and braces.

Pure ornery! And does that girl know how to accessorize or what!?

Looks sweet and innocent, hm!? Remember. looks can be deceiving!

4th of July Cassidy- my baby.

The girls tonight after talking to Nana in Kentucky. They have been having sister sleepovers in Cassidy's room all week. They take turns sleeping on the top and bottom bunks, and tonight they both squeezed in the bottom bunk. That should last about an hour! They started the night off with Gizmo too, but Cassidy said she was doing her pigeon and I had to go get her!

Hamster #3 and Hamster #4 in the Big Wheel. They can't make it move so they sleep in there, snuggled up like 2 little old ladies. Except that they are boys. And only 3 months old. But you get the idea right?

Gizzy Boo Boo. She sure will be happy to see Nana and Papa!

Thought you'd enjoy this...the girls said my sunglasses are "SO BIG". Cailin thought about it for a minute, and then said that was so they could go with my hair. Rusty was afraid to laugh:-) (At least she thinks they match my big hair and not my big rear!!)
(By the way... this sign is from Rusty's last day- not because we think you are never coming home! You better- we all miss you already!)
Christmas in the mountains. This is our home away from home...

Nana and her girls. Usually there is snow, but unfortunately not this year- 2006.

Daddy and Papa fishing on Christmas Day 2005. This is right in front of the cabin.

Mommy and the girls watching those crazy boys fish. Yes, Cailin has gloves. No, she doesn't really wear them. Sorry Nana!

View from the cabin- heaven on earth!

Fall Fun 2006

Cassidy as a flamingo - is this precious or what?
Cailin as a pirate... wonder who has a flair for drama?!

Cassidy's 8th birthday party at Libby Lu. I can't believe my baby is 8!

My crazy girls... dressed up for the party. (If Cailin actually tried to wear a belly shirt out in public she knows the consequence... Daddy wears a belly shirt, too! Ugh! We only had to do that once and we haven't seen those shirts again:-)

Cassidy's birthday celebration at Nana and Papa's with Hamster #2... Teddy.
The fact that he was a boy did nothing to dissuade us from the princess hamster habitat... it had to match Cassidy's room or Mommy wasn't bringing it home!

New York New York

New York City May 2006
After attending West Point's graduation (and seeing President George W. speak!) we spent the weekend in the city- the girl's first trip. Our main reason for this part of the trip was to take the girls to....
Otherwise known as every girl's dream! Ohmyword- too precious for words, and definitely a once in a lifetime trip. The girls brought their dolls, and started by having their hair done.

After their trip to the hair salon, and a little, ok a lot, of shopping, we had lunch in the cafe' there. We were blessed with lots of hugs from our happy girls!
The family with their dolls. Daddy earned sainthood by wearing the matching shirt Mommy bought him for the trip. Trust me when I tell you this was against his will... but he surprised mommy by packing it and putting it on before we left the hotel for the day. What a guy, hm!?
Oh, yeah, and he kept this handy.

And surprised his tired girls with a rickshaw trip back to the hotel after our day of shopping. He was waiting in front of the store with our bags loaded when we came out... a guy on a bicycle pulled us through the city. It was amazing!

A skyline tour of the city on the top level of the bus at 11:00 at night... of course we are calling Nana and Papa to tell them we wish they were there!

Happy Times!

Cailin's luau~ the food. Nana helped... she ordered the pizza HAHA!!
Ice cream birthday cake- Mommy didn't even have to stay up half the night decorating this year woohoo!

Cailin at her 10th birthday luau... making a flip flop pillow.

Mommy and Cassidy with the finished product!

May 2007 CYT Showcase... Daddy and the girls (the hat was part of her costume- not his normal attire!)

Cassidy with her sister and fellow castmate from The Jungle Book.

Nana and Papa with their star! We always knew she was a monkey! Are they proud or what?
